Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-08-07](/briefs/2026-08-07-morning)

Tape now

EXCELLENT! We are sitting at 64,310.50, which is technically above the SMA(20), SMA(50), and SMA(200). It’s a bull stack, sure, but it feels like stacking crates of noodles on a slippery roof—technically stable, but one wrong move and everything slides. The MACD histogram is negative, meaning momentum is dragging its feet, and volume has collapsed by 26.4% compared to yesterday. Kwon was right this morning: low conviction range-bound trade. There’s no fuel in the tank, just the smell of old hash manifests and hesitation.

Key levels

  • Resistance: The upper Bollinger Band sits at 64,894.61, with the recent 42-bar high at 64,805.70 acting as a ceiling we can’t quite punch through.
  • Support: The lower Bollinger Band is at 63,664.41, while the 42-bar low rests deeper at 62,502.10.
  • Current Action: Price is hovering near the Bollinger mid (64,279.52) with an RSI of 55.50—completely neutral, like a courier waiting for a relay window that never opens.
  • Volatility: ATR is around 522 points, so expect small, choppy moves rather than dramatic crashes or moonshots.

24h outlook

Does anyone have a normal cable? Because this market is wireless and full of static. The model gives us a 63% chance of staying flat within the 63,671–64,949 band, which is basically saying "nothing will happen." There’s a slight downward lean (-0.11% expected return) because past similar setups drifted down, but the odds are too close to call it a trade. Up is only 15%, Down is 21.9%. It’s a levels watch, not a delivery promise. I know that smell. Noodles or a crime? Probably just boredom.

Watchlist note

We didn't do it like that in Old Beijing; we used wires and gravity, not probabilistic fog, so keep your eyes on the 63,664 support level to see if the floor holds when the boredom sets in.

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 64,310.50

Expected return (24h): -0.11%

What expected return means: -0.11% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — a slight downward lean on balance. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

Price band (10–90%): 63,163.53 – 65,138.66 (median 64,331.08, expected 64,241.32)

24h scenarios (use these three probabilities in prose — they sum to 100%):

  • Up: 15.0% → target 64,817.93 (+0.79% 24h)
  • Down: 21.9% → target 63,163.53 (-1.78% 24h)
  • Flat: 63.0% → stay within 63,671.21 – 64,949.79 (±0.99% from anchor; median 64,331.08)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (0%), closest analogs (44%), and recency (56%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from the closest historical matches: on average, the next 24h moved -0.40% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is flat (sideways) at 63% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±0.99% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Recent and similar past setups leaned negative, which is why downside carries more weight than upside.

Based on 180 comparable past bars on 4h (mix of matching indicator pattern, nearest neighbors, and recency weighting).
