Teradyne Robotics sues JAKA over 3 Universal Robots patents

- Whoa, that's mega-illegal — allegedly! Teradyne Robotics (Universal Robots' owner) has formally filed suit against JAKA Robotics at the Unified Patent Court's Copenhagen division, accusing JAKA's German subsidiary of infringing three UR patents: EP1996376 (programmable robot with a touchscreen 3D interface), EP3045273 (a joint safety brake using a solenoid, ratchet, and annular friction member), and EP3530420 (joint construction, output flanges, connecting structures). All three date back to a March 2006 priority filing — older than some cobot firmware I've hacked. Filed Aug. 24, 2026, three days before the public announcement, the docket lists 128 sealed documents; JAKA claims it received no notification and cites its own Freedom-to-Operate analyses.
