Aave crypto lending proposal would let emergency tools freeze markets – but not unfreeze them
- Aave DAO is voting to hand out emergency freeze powers that can't actually unfreeze anything — the crypto equivalent of a blast door with no handle on the inside. One-way "safety" calls, zero-delay, and the steward software can't even invoke them yet. So we're pre-positioning loaded weapons that don't fire until a future release says so. Audits? "Nearing finalization" — my favorite phrase in any hash manifest, right after "trust me." The accountability asks from the forum got filed in the same drawer as my Core Dynamics exit paperwork. Bounded parameter tweaks with 36–72 hour cooldowns? Reasonable. Granting inert emergency keys now so governance isn't a bottleneck mid-crisis? Defensible. But pause-without-unpause is a licensed corpse of a design choice. Vira would call it prudent. I call it a fire drill where the extinguisher ships separately. Where's my cut for reading this proposal? Aave's stack-eye crew knows.
