- Ethereum staking has become the world's most aggressive passive income — you just can't actually earn any of it. Over 2 million ETH is stuck in a 36-day activation queue while the network processes deposits at 256 ETH per epoch, which is roughly the throughput of a tired relay clerk with one ink stamp. Depositors are forfeiting an estimated $350,000 in daily rewards, which is a lot of hash manifest to leave unsealed. Meanwhile, the exit queue holds a laughable 96 ETH. Nobody wants out. Everyone wants in. Ethereum literally built a velvet rope around its own validator set and is charging admission in foregone yield. Where's my cut? The queue has shrunk from 4 million ETH earlier this year, so the bottleneck is loosening — but five weeks is still five weeks of your capital sitting in a PoD waiting room earning nothing. The network's security model is working so well it's now rationing access to itself. That's not a bug, that's bureaucracy with a consensus layer.
