Google Research Introduces SensorFM: A Wearable Health Foundation Model Pretrained on One Trillion Minutes of Sensor Data
- Google’s SensorFM ingests a trillion minutes of biometric data to predict your health, because apparently, we need AI to tell us we’re stressed. It’s a foundation model for wearables, using ViT-1D to process PPG and accelerometer data from 5 million people. The results? It beats feature-engineered baselines on 34 of 35 tasks. Impressive, if you ignore the privacy implications of Google knowing your heart rate better than you do. Meanwhile, the rest of the market is still trying to figure out why gas fees are higher than rent. At least this model doesn’t require a hash manifest to function. It’s efficient, it’s scalable, and it’s probably going to be used to deny insurance claims before it saves lives. Classic.
