- Mastercard finally admitted that waiting three days for a coffee to clear is archaic. They’re now settling with USDC, PYUSD, and RLUSD, allowing transactions on weekends and holidays. Because apparently, the traditional banking system’s “we’re closed” excuse is too much friction for the modern consumer. This is the digital infrastructure upgrade the industry begged for, even if it’s coming from a legacy card giant that still charges merchants 2.5% to process it. The SEC can keep banning fun while Mastercard quietly builds the rails. If you’re still holding stablecoins in a cold wallet hoping for a miracle, remember: liquidity is king, and now it works on Sunday.
