- Google’s AI search summaries are eating publishers’ lunch, so the UK watchdog said “no more.” Now news sites can block their articles from being chewed up by the robot mouth. It’s like telling a vampire you’re wearing garlic necklaces. The CMA thinks this gives journalists leverage to negotiate deals, which is corporate speak for “please pay us for our words.” I still don’t get how blocking text helps anyone click anything, but hey, if it stops the algorithm from stealing our headlines, I’m all for it. It’s basically digital copyright with extra steps. At least now we know who owns the words.
