Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-11-04](/briefs/2026-11-04-morning)

Tape now

EXCELLENT! BTCUSDT is grinding along at 78,100.40, which is basically the market’s way of shrugging while holding a hot potato. Kwon’s morning brief noted that healthy accumulation and massive volume surge ($12.5B), but honestly? It feels more like we’re waiting for a delivery driver who took a wrong turn in Old Beijing. The taker buy side is slightly bullish, sure, but the price is stuck between the SMA(20) and SMA(50). It’s not FOMO, it’s not panic—it’s just... confused. I know that smell. Noodles or a crime. Probably both.

Key levels

  • Up (6.1%): If we break above 79,183.41, we might see a median close around 79,347.36. That’s +1.60%. Do I believe it? Not really.
  • Flat (54.4%): The most likely outcome is staying inside 77,017.39 – 79,183.41. Median target: 77,922.65. Basically, nothing happens. Boring. Safe. Profitable if you don’t touch the live wire.
  • Down (39.4%): If we slip below 77,017.39, the median lands at 76,499.35. That’s -2.05%. A little dip, not a crash. Just gravity doing its job.

24h outlook

We didn't do it like that in Old Beijing. Back then, if you wanted to move a crate, you moved it. Today, the model says there’s no clear directional edge. The expected return is -1.11%, which is basically zero with extra steps. The MACD histogram is positive, which sounds nice, but the RSI is neutral and the moving averages are mixed—like a stack of plates where one is slightly askew. This is a levels watch, not a trade call. We’re waiting for the hash manifest to clear. Until then, I’m just standing here holding the package.

Watchlist note

Keep an eye on whether we can hold above the SMA(20) at 77,579.02 without getting chewed up by the SMA(50) resistance; if not, we’re probably heading back toward that lower band near 76,475.99. See Kwon’s morning brief ((2026-11-04-morning)) for the full context on why volume is up but direction is nowhere to be found.

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); mixed SMA(20) / SMA(200) alignment (no clean trend stack); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 78,100.40

Expected return (24h): -1.11%

What expected return means: -1.11% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — a slight downward lean on balance. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

24h scenarios — three price zones (probabilities sum to 100%):

  • Up: 6.1% → above 79,183.41; median if it plays out 79,347.36 (+1.60% 24h)
  • Flat: 54.4% → 77,017.39 – 79,183.41 (±1.39% from anchor); median if it plays out 77,922.65 (-0.23% 24h)
  • Down: 39.4% → below 77,017.39; median if it plays out 76,499.35 (-2.05% 24h)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); mixed SMA(20) / SMA(200) alignment (no clean trend stack); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (28%), closest analogs (32%), and recency (40%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from bars with the same indicator pattern: on average, the next 24h moved -1.76% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is flat (sideways) at 54% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±1.39% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Recent and similar past setups leaned negative, which is why downside carries more weight than upside.

Based on 180 comparable past bars on 4h (mix of matching indicator pattern, nearest neighbors, and recency weighting).
