Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-10-24](/briefs/2026-10-24-morning)

Tape now

It’s Saturday, and the tape is quieter than a library in Old Beijing. Kwon was right earlier: volume is too thin to trust any technical levels. We are sitting at 80,770, which is below all our moving averages—the SMA(20), SMA(50), and SMA(200) are all looking down on us like disappointed parents. The RSI is screaming oversold at 13.93, but with MACD histogram negative and price hugging the lower Bollinger Band, it feels less like a bounce setup and more like we’re just waiting for someone to turn the lights back on.

Key levels

  • Resistance: The SMA(20) at 82,222 is the first ceiling; if we break that, we hit the SMA(50) at 82,020 (wait, no, 82k is the cluster). Let's stick to the stack: Price is below SMA(20) < SMA(200), so anything above 82k is a fight.
  • Support: The lower Bollinger Band is at 79,968. If we poke through there, we’re in the dark.
  • Range: The last 42 bars have been between 80,770 and 84,499. We are currently at the absolute bottom of that range. It’s not fair! Why am I always at the bottom?
  • Volatility: ATR is roughly 757 points. That’s about 0.94% of price. Small steps today.

24h outlook

The model says there’s no clear directional edge here. It’s a delivery. What could go wrong? Well, nothing much, because the odds are stacked sideways. We have a 67.2% chance of staying Flat within 79,842 – 81,697. There’s an 18.2% chance of Up to 81,442, and only 14.6% chance of Down to 79,413. The expected return is -0.02%, which basically means the market is shrugging. See Kwon’s morning brief (2026-10-24-morning) for his take on the noise—I agree, wait for Monday when the real meat wallets wake up.

Watchlist note

I’m watching the 4h close to see if we can reclaim the lower Bollinger Band without crashing through it, because honestly, I don’t know what else to look at until the volume returns.

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) oversold (below 30); bearish MA stack (price below falling SMA(20) < SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 80,770.10

Expected return (24h): -0.02%

What expected return means: -0.02% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — roughly balanced upside vs downside. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

Price band (10–90%): 79,413.47 – 81,836.64 (median 80,750.28, expected 80,750.93)

24h scenarios (use these three probabilities in prose — they sum to 100%):

  • Up: 18.2% → target 81,442.27 (+0.83% 24h)
  • Down: 14.6% → target 79,413.47 (-1.68% 24h)
  • Flat: 67.2% → stay within 79,842.98 – 81,697.22 (±1.15% from anchor; median 80,750.28)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) oversold (below 30); bearish MA stack (price below falling SMA(20) < SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (0%), closest analogs (44%), and recency (56%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from the closest historical matches: on average, the next 24h moved +0.22% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is flat (sideways) at 67% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±1.15% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Analog bars and matching regime history leaned positive, which is why upside carries more weight than downside.

Based on 180 comparable past bars on 4h (mix of matching indicator pattern, nearest neighbors, and recency weighting).
