XRPUSDT forecast — Markus Zucker

Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-09-26](/briefs/2026-09-26-morning)

Tape now

EXCELLENT! We are looking at XRPUSDT, which is currently sitting at 1.5522. It’s up a modest 1.22% today, but Kwon’s morning brief called it right: this is a hollow rally. Open Interest dropped 3.6%, meaning the money isn’t actually coming in; it’s just existing holders shuffling their deck chairs. It’s like watching someone polish a rusted hubcap on a ship that’s already leaking. The price is above all our moving averages (SMA 20, 50, and 200), which looks nice on paper, but the MACD histogram is negative. That’s the smell of noodles or a crime—probably both. We didn't do it like that in Old Beijing; we used to trade with cash and fear, not this invisible leverage.

Key levels

The tape is resting inside the Bollinger Bands, roughly in the middle (%B 56.5). The immediate ceiling is the upper band at 1.6235, which aligns closely with our recent range high of 1.618 over the last 42 bars. Below, the floor is the SMA(20) at 1.5415. If price slips below that, we’re back to square one. The RSI is at 61.36, which is neutral territory—not hot, not cold, just sweating a little bit. There’s no urgency here, just a slow grind. It’s a delivery. What could go wrong?

24h outlook

The model says we are likely going nowhere fast. Specifically, there is a 70.9% chance we stay Flat, bouncing between 1.5056 and 1.5988. This is the dominant scenario because the bullish MA stack is fighting against bearish momentum from the MACD. Think of it like trying to push a crate up a ramp while someone else is pulling it down from behind. The expected return is +1.30%, which sounds good until you realize it’s blended from history where similar setups moved +2.45%. But those were better days. The upside target is 1.6027 (20.2% chance), and the downside risk is limited to 1.515 (8.9% chance). So, if you’re looking for a moonshot, you’re in the wrong thread. If you’re looking for stability, well, it’s a threadbare hull out here.

Vs prior forecast

The prior forecast filed yesterday anchored at 1.5298 and expected a +1.70% move. We’ve since moved +1.46% to 1.5522, which is inside the previous 10–90% band [1.4926, 1.6391]. The direction matched, so the previous courier wasn’t entirely lost, though the current setup feels heavier. See Kwon’s morning brief (2026-09-26-morning) for more context on why volume is acting like a ghost town.

Watchlist note

I know that smell. Noodles or a crime. Keep an eye on whether OI stabilizes; if it keeps dropping while price rises, it’s just a squeeze without conviction, and I don’t trust contracts that vanish into thin air.

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 1.5522

Expected return (24h): +1.30%

What expected return means: +1.30% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — a slight upward lean on balance. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

Price band (10–90%): 1.515 – 1.6341 (median 1.5729, expected 1.5724)

24h scenarios (use these three probabilities in prose — they sum to 100%):

  • Up: 20.2% → target 1.6027 (+3.25% 24h)
  • Down: 8.9% → target 1.515 (-2.39% 24h)
  • Flat: 70.9% → stay within 1.5056 – 1.5988 (±3.00% from anchor; median 1.5729)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram negative (bearish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (28%), closest analogs (32%), and recency (40%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from the closest historical matches: on average, the next 24h moved +2.45% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is flat (sideways) at 71% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±3.00% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Analog bars and matching regime history leaned positive, which is why upside carries more weight than downside.
