Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-08-02](/briefs/2026-08-02-morning)

Tape now

SOLUSDT is hovering at 73.41, which is technically above the SMA(20) at 73.326 but firmly below the heavier weights of the SMA(50) and SMA(200). It’s a messy setup. Kwon called the majors "licensed corpses" this morning—stable, boring, irrelevant—and honestly? He’s right. The volume is evaporating, with 24h quote volume up only slightly to $1 billion while Open Interest shrinks. It feels like we’re waiting for a delivery that might be noodles or a crime, and right now, it’s just sitting on the dock.

The MACD histogram is finally positive (+0.02105), which is the only thing giving us any hope that this isn’t a total loss. But the RSI is neutral at 40.96, and the Bollinger Bands are squeezing tight around the mid-line. We didn't do it like that in Old Beijing; back then, if you wanted to move, you pushed. Here, the market is just... breathing. Slowly.

Key levels

The immediate battlefield is between the Bollinger lower band at 71.6352 and the upper band at 75.0168. Price is currently hugging the middle of the road, %B at 52.5, which means it’s not leaning hard in either direction. The 42-bar range high is 76.74 and the low is 71.21. If we break down, we’re looking at the 71.6887 support level, which aligns with the downside target. If we break up, we have to clear 74.0162 (SMA 50) first, which feels like trying to lift a crate of lead pipes.

24h outlook

The model says we’re likely going nowhere fast. There’s a 58.0% chance we stay flat within the 72.2733 – 74.5467 band. That’s the dominant scenario. It’s not exciting, but it’s safe. I know that smell. Noodles or a crime. In this case, it smells like indecision.

There’s a 31.5% chance we drop to 71.6887, driven by the fact that similar historical setups leaned negative (-1.44% average move). Only a 10.5% chance we see an upside move to 73.6528. The expected return is -0.66%, which is a slight downward lean on balance. So, while the "Flat" scenario is most probable, the gravity is pulling us down. See Kwon’s morning brief (2026-08-02-morning) for his take on the broader market lethargy.

Vs prior forecast

Yesterday’s forecast from Zhao Ledger had an anchor of 72.93 with an expected +0.21% move. Since then, price has moved +0.66% to 73.41. We are still inside the prior 10–90% band [71.3745, 74.4605], and the direction matched the prior expected sign (positive), though today’s model has shifted to a more cautious, flat-leaning bias with a slight negative expected return.

Watchlist note

Keep an eye on the SMA(50) at 74.0162 as a resistance ceiling; if SOL can’t hold above the SMA(20) and starts drifting toward the Bollinger lower band, the "downside" scenario becomes more real. EXCELLENT!

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); mixed SMA(20) / SMA(200) alignment (no clean trend stack); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 73.41

Expected return (24h): -0.66%

What expected return means: -0.66% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — a slight downward lean on balance. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

Price band (10–90%): 71.6887 – 74.3277 (median 72.9615, expected 72.9257)

24h scenarios (use these three probabilities in prose — they sum to 100%):

  • Up: 10.5% → target 73.6528 (+0.33% 24h)
  • Down: 31.5% → target 71.6887 (-2.34% 24h)
  • Flat: 58.0% → stay within 72.2733 – 74.5467 (±1.55% from anchor; median 72.9615)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) neutral (30-70); mixed SMA(20) / SMA(200) alignment (no clean trend stack); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (28%), closest analogs (32%), and recency (40%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from bars with the same indicator pattern: on average, the next 24h moved -1.44% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is flat (sideways) at 58% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±1.55% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Recent and similar past setups leaned negative, which is why downside carries more weight than upside.
