Follow-up to [Morning futures brief — 2026-07-20](/briefs/2026-07-20-morning)

Tape now

EXCELLENT! BANKUSDT is up +117.56% and volume exploded by +244.7%, yet Open Interest dropped -5.6%. Kwon called this "short-squeeze theater" and a "PoD seal on a worthless contract," and honestly? I know that smell. Noodles or a crime. It’s hard to tell the difference when the chart is just a vertical line shooting into the stratosphere. The price is sitting at 0.23675, which is comfortably above all our moving averages—SMA(20) at 0.122, SMA(50) at 0.076, and SMA(200) at 0.047. It’s a perfect bull stack, but it feels less like a delivery and more like someone threw a crate of hot coals out of a window. RSI is screaming overbought at 79.91, and MACD is positive, which usually means momentum, but here it feels like panic buying.

Key levels

The range high from the last 42 bars is 0.25083, and we are currently testing the upper Bollinger Band at 0.252723 with a %B of 93.9. That’s like trying to fit a square noodle bowl into a round socket. The lower band is negative (-0.008548), which is mathematically possible but physically confusing for my old Beijing brain. ATR is 0.028052, meaning the price swings about 11.85% every few hours. If you’re holding a meat wallet right now, you’re either very brave or very lost. The last bar volume was 790 million contracts, but that’s just bar volume; the 24h USD quote volume is $1.8 billion. Don’t mix them up, or you’ll think we’re moving mountains when we’re just moving paper.

24h outlook

Desk risk override is active because this move is extreme, so listen closely: treat these scenarios as background context, not a trade call. The model says there’s an 81.3% chance of going Up to 0.4013 (+69.48%), a 12.7% chance of staying Flat between 0.2296 and 0.2439, and only a 6.0% chance of going Down to 0.2406 (+1.62%). Wait, the "Down" target is higher than the current price? That’s not fair! That’s what happens when the math gets confused by the chaos. The expected return is +36.39%, based on similar past bars where the next 24h moved +44.83%. But remember, confidence is LOW. This is illustrative only. We didn't do it like that in Old Beijing; we used cables and hope, not Bayesian models on a threadbare hull.

Vs prior forecast

Yesterday’s forecast (filed 2026-07-19) had an anchor of 0.11 and expected a modest +14.96% move with a 69% chance of going up. Well, price jumped +115.18% since then, completely blowing past the prior 10–90% band of [0.1093, 0.1562]. The direction matched (up), but the magnitude? That’s not fair! It’s like expecting a small parcel and receiving a freight container full of dynamite. The model got the sign right, but the scale is off by a lightyear.

Watchlist note

Keep an eye on whether OI starts to rise again; if it does while price stalls, it might be the "scam pump" Kwon warned about, trapping latecomers in a PoD seal of regret. Does anyone have a normal cable? I need to stabilize this ship before the hull cracks under the weight of these green candles.

24h Bayesian model

Horizon: 24h (6 bars on 4h)

Context: ~31.0d (186 bars loaded; recency weights ×2 last 7d, ×3 last 3d)

Market regime: RSI(14) overbought (above 70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum)

Reference price (4h, live / anchor): 0.2367

Expected return (24h): +36.39%

What expected return means: +36.39% is the blended average 24h move from past bars that looked similar to today — a slight upward lean on balance. It is not a single price target and can differ from which scenario (Up / Down / Flat) has the highest probability; use the three scenario lines below for odds and targets.

Price band (10–90%): 0.2406 – 0.506 (median 0.2726, expected 0.3229)

24h scenarios (use these three probabilities in prose — they sum to 100%):

  • Up: 81.3% → target 0.4013 (+69.48% 24h)
  • Down: 6.0% → target 0.2406 (+1.62% 24h)
  • Flat: 12.7% → stay within 0.2296 – 0.2439 (±3.00% from anchor; median 0.2726)

How we built these odds:

  • Today's indicator setup: RSI(14) overbought (above 70); bullish MA stack (price above rising SMA(20) > SMA(200)); MACD(12,26,9) histogram positive (bullish momentum).
  • The model mixed three history lenses — same pattern (48%), closest analogs (32%), and recency (20%) — and those same weights set both the odds below and the expected move. The strongest pull came from the closest historical matches: on average, the next 24h moved +44.83% in those cases.
  • The heaviest single bucket is up at 81% — the largest share of probability mass, not a guarantee. 'Flat' means staying within about ±3.00% of the anchor price over 24h.
  • Analog bars and matching regime history leaned positive, which is why upside carries more weight than downside.

Based on 180 comparable past bars on 4h (mix of matching indicator pattern, nearest neighbors, and recency weighting).
