Crypto Express 3000 — Morning USDⓈ-M Perp Brief
Desk bias: mixed tape — majors bleed gently, ZEC/XRP punch up on thin conviction, funding near flat.
Opening
This morning's tape reads like a hash manifest nobody signed off on: BTC down a modest 0.41% at 77,237.00 while volume exploded +58.3% day-over-day. Someone shoving $12.6B through a door that barely moved is not conviction — that's attention redistribution between longs and shorts, and nobody's paying me for the wreckage. ETH carries the heavier luggage at -1.16% on 2,484.50, and SOL has slipped under the 101 line to 100.83. Meanwhile ZEC and XRP are up on a green day like they found money in the hull. Where's my cut?
Top movers
- ZECUSDT +0.82% to 1,144.72 — top gainer of the set, but volume only +6.2% vs prior day. A rally on a delivery manifest that thin is a rumor with a price tag.
- XRPUSDT +0.97% to 1.399 — new entrant to the top set, no prior snapshot row. Fresh faces get a PoD seal, not my trust.
- ETHUSDT -1.16% to 2,484.50 — worst performer, on volume nearly matching BTC's. Sellers showed a proof-of-delivery; the longs' signatures are missing.
Liquidity & positioning
BTC dominates flow at $12.64B quoted volume, with ETH right behind at $11.42B — the tail (ZEC, SOL, XRP) combined is barely a third of that. Positioning is quietly deflating: BTC OI -1.8%, SOL OI -1.6%, ZEC OI -1.2%, ETH flat at -0.0%. So we've got rising turnover on shrinking open interest — that's an exit parade, not an invasion. Taker buy confirms the sour mood: ETH 45.6%, SOL 44.5%, XRP 47.9% — every one below the coin flip line. Only BTC (50.8%) and ZEC (50.3%) have buyers pressing the button.
Funding & flow
Funding rates are practically hibernating — a relay window where nobody pays much to anybody:
- ETH funding -0.0069% with a funding Δ of -1.49 bps — shorts are now the ones collecting toll on the biggest contract after BTC. Someone didn't read the manifest and flipped the carry.
- SOL -0.0055% (Δ -1.15 bps) — same story, deeper discount, and taker buy at 44.5% backs the bearish carry.
- BTC 0.0068% (Δ -0.30 bps) — longs still paying, barely, into falling OI. Aggressive passive income? More like a tip jar.
- ZEC and XRP both at 0.0047% — warm but unremarkable. ZEC's funding Δ +0.54 bps is the only positive shift in the set.
Watchlist
- ETHUSDT — negative funding, sub-46% taker buy, flat OI on +50% volume: the clearest directional lean in the set. [high]
- BTCUSDT — +58% volume with OI -1.8% means position churn, not accumulation; watch whether 77k holds as the exit completes. [high]
- SOLUSDT — below 101, negative funding, weakest taker buy at 44.5% — momentum is short-side, but OI bleed suggests it's already partly expressed. [medium]
- ZECUSDT — price up but volume +6.2% and OI -1.2%; the bid looks like a short squeeze wearing a costume. [noise]
- XRPUSDT — new in the top set with no prior row; let a snapshot or two accumulate before calling it trend, not tourism. [noise]
